Human Resources Generalist


Location: Winnipeg Corporate Office, 25 Rothwell Road


Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting operating units by implementing human resources programs; supporting the growth of the Company through recruiting, functioning seamlessly in multiple markets, solving performance problems, and playing a key role in driving and supporting programs.  The HR Generalist has an opportunity to work with our growing employee base in Canada, USA, Brazil, Russia and Australia.


Duties may include the following:

  • Implements human resources programs by providing human resources services, including staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention; completing personnel transactions.
  • Actively participates in talent acquisition through candidate searches, screens, interviews and candidate selection processes.
  • Provides support and acts as a backup for the payroll function.
  • Works with the HR Manager to ensure compliance with immigration legislation in various jurisdictions by filing applications for intercompany transfers and international work visas.
  • Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action.
  • Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
  • Manages client expectations by communicating project status and issues; resolving concerns; analyzing time and cost issues.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional development.


Education and Experience:

  •  Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) or International Personnel Management Association (IPMA) Certified Professional - considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of professional human resource experience.
  • 2+ years in an HR generalist role including compensation, Canadian and USA employment law, employee relations, and talent processes.
  • Experience in completing full cycle payroll (ADP preferred).
  • Some knowledge of Agriculture would also be an asset.
  • The successful candidate will be a well-rounded individual who loves a fast-paced work environment and is willing to tackle exciting challenges. The candidate will also be easy-going, readily adjusts to changing priorities and is able to adapt to a rapidly growing business.
