Sales Agronomist (Regional)

 

Location: Adelaide, South Australia and surrounding areas. Specific location may be negotiable.

Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Sales Agronomist is responsible for achieving maximum growth in sales revenue within an assigned Region(s) by effectively supporting the sales of Farmers Edge's innovative products and services to growers.

 

Duties may include the following:

Account/Sales duties:

  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting to the Sales Manager produced from regularly scheduled sales funnel meetings;
  • Create an annual territory plan that details the projected revenue;
  • Plan and facilitate regular strategic sales calls;
  • Prepare for and participate in:
    • One-on-one meetings with Sales Manager => quarterly.
    • Sales Team Meetings => weekly team conference calls
    • In-Field Coaching => scheduled day with Sales Manager, including use of pre-call planning and call de-brief sheets.
  • Monitor customer, market, and competitor activity weekly to build and adapt appropriate Regional strategic plan for the assigned geography
  • Regular face to face meetings with Regional Team to ensure seamless delivery/execution resulting in high-level customer experience
  • Identify, engage and recruit new Farmers Edge Representatives in line with the Regional Strategic plan
  • Participate in trade shows with the purpose of generating strong leads and support representatives
  • Complete technology training standards as identified throughout the year
  • Participate in strategic sales calls with representative's agronomists to coach and close sales with growers directly. 
  • Ensure representative counterparts gather and provide timely and correct information for scheduled invoicing.
  • Provide support to the Operations team in collecting and completing contract requirements with growers.
    • Collect Equipment IDs
    • Field plans including legal land description and crop rotations
    • Historical info such as As-applied data.
    • Managing the weather station network
  • In conjunction with the Regional team ensure grower farm and account set up are completed effectively and on time following the correct procedures
  • Business travel required within region.

 

Technical duties:

  • Describe Farmers Edge Precision Solutions products to growers in conjunction with representative partners & staff, understanding value proposition for each segment in different regions.
  • Use remote sensing and satellite imagery, interpreting data to create quality Farmers Edge zone maps by fields, and coach Representative employees on the use of imagery for advanced scouting.
  • Understand and guide clients in conjunction with the Precision Tech on the use of GPS, and maps to complete precision soil sampling procedures, acting as lead expert for representative's and corporate farm agronomists, and their soil samplers.
  • Interpret soil test results from lab soil analysis reports.
  • Train representative's agronomists on the Farmers Edge Tool Set (Zone Calculator/Recommendation Engine/Virtual Soil Testing) to create and/or approve fertilizer, fungicide and seeding recommendations (Rx) prescriptions.
  • Provide support in system training to 3rd party representatives and key growers.
  • Work with representatives and key growers to provide agronomic support to interpret yield variability maps, identify potential stress or pressure in the field, for further scouting investigations for R&D.
  • Understand and participate in the Farmers Edge business plan and strategies to achieve operational and personal successes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years' leadership experience in sales, in the Agriculture industry
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Agriculture, Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of agronomy and/or precision agronomy including but not limited to;
    • Cropping systems and farming practices in the region
    • Fertiliser types and blends
    • Seed and crop recommendations
    • Location farm equipment.
  • Previous experience as an sales agronomist or Territory/State Manager
  • Understanding of R&D process, crop growth staging, recognising disease, weeds, growth, and crop water management.
  • Understanding of basic meteorological data and how it relates to crop production.
  • Technologically inclined.
  • Strong customer service skills and problem solving abilities.
