Safety Coordinator

Location: Winnipeg, MB


The Safety Coordinator's role is responsible for conveying a consistent and positive message regarding health and safety at Farmer's Edge. They will focus on maintaining, updating, and implementing the policy as needed. In addition to being in constant contact with safety representatives at each hub, they will be the primary contact for employees regarding any safety issues. The Safety Coordinator will be a team player who has a high attention to detail and works well independently.

 Duties may include the following:

  • Develop, implement, maintain and ensure adherence to all safety policy and programs;
  • Lead and facilitate Workplace Health and Safety Committee and all related activities and outcomes;
  • Develop and deliver safety training to ensure compliance with provincial and state legislation and company requirements
  • Ensure employees complete training on Farmer's Edge Health and Safety policies;
  • Oversee the Workers' Compensation Program
  • Maintain and revise health and safety documents and files as required;
  • Develop, implement and coordinate the process of health and safety reporting;
  • Develop implement and coordinate incident reporting and conduct investigations;
  • Use good judgement on advising management on problem correction;
  • Conduct periodic health and safety inspections;
  • Reinforce policies with safety representatives, management and employees;
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential;
  • Some travel may be required;

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety;
  • 1 3 years of health and safety work experience;
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations;
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, along with strong attention to detail;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs;
  • Previous experience in the agriculture industry would also be considered an asset.
